Alice Mae Adams, age 94, La Cygne, Kan., passed Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. She was born on Aug. 9, 1923, at Taylor Springs, Ill., the daughter of Earl and Lena Hays Pulver.
She graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School.
She married Drue Wilkes who preceded her in death. She then married Gene Smith. Alice cared for Gene’s children and other family as her own. Gene also preceded her in death. She later married Clarence Adams who too preceded her in death.
She was a very active member and served in several capacities at the New Life Baptist Church in La Cygne. She volunteered with hospice.
Her grandkids were very special to her. She enjoyed quilting, and every one of her grandchildren has at least one of her quilts.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Pulver and Clarence Ernest; and a son-in-law, Rex Hale.
Alice is survived by a son, Drue Wilkes and wife Sharon; three daughters, Barbara Hale, Linda Roberts and husband Kevin, and Joyce Lobmaster and husband Dave; and 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was Friday, Feb. 23, at the New Life Baptist, La Cygne. Burial was in Trading Post Cemetery.
