Betty Dean, age 90, Mound City, Kan., passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Parkview Heights in Garnett, Kan. She was born in St. Catherine, Mo., on Dec. 27, 1927, the daughter of William and Lula Cordray Stevens. 

She was married to Archie Dean who preceded her in death on June 22, 2012. 

She was an independent woman who let you know where she stood on an issue. She enjoyed her grandkids, fishing and mushroom hunting. 

Betty is survived by her children, Michael Schasteen, Cheryl Guilfoyle and Teri Denks; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. 

Graveside funeral services were held on Monday June 4, 2018, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookfield, Mo. 

The family suggests contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences for the family can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
