Sybil May Fehr Chaplin

Sybil May Fehr Chaplin, age 94, of Fort Scott, Kan., peaceably joined her departed family and friends late Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019. Sybil was born on May 25, 1925, to Dewey Higday Fehr and Ruth June Brittingham Fehr in Pleasanton, Kan., where she grew up. 

She married George Lee Chaplin on July 18, 1946, in Prescott; together they raised a daughter and son and lived most of their married life in Pleasanton. 

Sybil loved cooking for her family and friends, reading, doing puzzles, and playing her piano. Her passion in life was time spent with family. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pleasanton and a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Sybil is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Weaver and husband Darvin of Mulberry, Kan., and by her son, Rodney G. Chaplin and wife Vickie of Fort Scott; five grandchildren, Rodney G. Chaplin, Gretchen Ann Miller and husband Shawn, Daniel E. Weaver, Rory G. Chaplin and wife Lisa, and Darrin E. Weaver and wife Hattie; and five great grandchildren, Wyatt, Grady and Brynna Miller, and Abel and Myah Chaplin. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Edith Post and husband Howard, and numerous nieces, nephews and very special friends.

Her family celebrated her life on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at the Schneider Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery at Fulton, Kan.
