William Corwin Pointer Jr., “Pete,” age 71, Mound City, Kan., passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Prescott Country View. He was born at Fort Scott, Kan., on Aug. 6, 1946, the son of William and Josephine McGlathery Pointer. He graduated from Pleasanton High School.

On Dec. 25, 1966, he married Ruby Fritts in Mound City at the First Baptist Church. 

He and Ruby owned and operated buses for the Pleasanton School District. He then worked as a sprinkler fitter for Conley Sprinkler before retirement. He was a member of the Sprinkler Fitter’s Union Local No. 669. 

Pete loved his family and community. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle. The family takes great solace in knowing that Pete was at peace with his Lord and Savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Brandon Pointer.

Pete is survived by his wife Ruby; two sons, Eric Pointer and wife Wendi, and Bryan Pointer; a brother, Joe Pointer and wife Linda; a sister, Maxine Johnson; and three granddaughters, Kyra, Jaidyn and Danyka. 

Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. 

The family suggests contributions to Children’s Mercy Hospital c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box 525, Pleasanton, KS 66075. Online condolences for the family can be left at  Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.
