Mrs. Anna Mae Tipton, of Webster, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at the age of 83. Anna Mae was born to parents Lester and Dorothy Newlan on May 7, 1936, in Colony, Kan. She grew up as the eldest of three and attended La Cygne (Kan.) Rural High School.
Anna Mae married Harold Dean Tipton in 1956, and the couple had four children.
Anna Mae worked in the banking field for many years, and also as a cashier at Walmart for 20 years – retiring at the age of 75.
Anna Mae was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star, receiving her 60-year pin in 2014.
Anna Mae is survived by her daughter, Dena Freeman, and son-in-law John Freeman of Katy, Texas; son Keith Tipton of Irvine, Calif.; daughter Diane Morrison, and son-in-law Kent Morrison of Humble, Texas; sister Connie Eisman of La Cygne; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Tipton Sr.; her son, Harold Dean Tipton Jr.; her parents, Lester and Dorothy Newlan; and Jerry Newlan.
Anna Mae was adored by many due to her inner strength, love she shared with others, and her amazing sense of humor.
The family of Anna Mae Tipton will be celebrating her life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019. The service will take place at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in La Cygne. We welcome friends to join us there.
