Barbara Mosher, 97, formerly of Blue Mound and Coffeyville, Kan., died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at De Soto, Kan. Barbara was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Monmouth, Kan., to Schuyler Leaman and Lila (Morrison) Leaman.
She attended schools in Monmouth and Cherokee, Kan., graduating from Crawford County Community High School in Cherokee. She attended Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kan., and was a member of the Pi Kappa Sigma sorority.
On Jan. 8, 1943, she married Warren Mosher at Parsons, Kan. Barbara and Warren owned and operated the Blue Moon Theater in Blue Mound. Mrs. Mosher was a former member of the Federated Church in Blue Mound, and a member of Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville. She was also a 57-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, first at Lotus Chapter, Blue Mound, then Oscar Dewey Chapter, Mound City and later Eva Chapter, Coffeyville.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one sister, Marjorie; and three brothers, Ronald, Robert, and William.
Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie Fox of Coffeyville, Kan., Deborah Lyman of Fort Scott, Kan., and Jill Rigdon of Linwood, Kan.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Twyla Nevitt of Bryan, Texas.
The funeral for Mrs. Mosher will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service. Burial in Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kan., will follow the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to Blue Mound Federated Church in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box J, Mound City, KS 66056. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
