Betty June Millard, age 90, formerly of Pleasanton, Kan., passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, in Liberty, Mo.
Betty, the daughter of Albert Charles and Opal Louise (Bott) Morris, was born on Dec. 5, 1933, in Hoisington, Kan. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church all of her adult life. Betty began her working career as a waitress, but later worked as a records clerk at Western Insurance, in Fort Scott, Kan., then in various positions for MetMor and MetLife in the Kansas City area.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and an active participant in the lives of her five generations. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, sewing, and working jig-saw puzzles. She loved every variety and color of flowers, and bird watching, especially hummingbirds. She was an avid reader for herself, but could make a story come to life for her grandchildren, as she read to them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Allen Millard and Albert LaVern Millard; two daughters, Brenda Darlene Burks and Pamela Ann Folsom; a brother, LaVern; eight sisters, Norma, Virginia, Shirley, Delores, Beverly, Janice, Rosalie, and Donna; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Stephen, and Shane. Betty is survived by a son, Jimmy Wisbey (and partner, David); three daughters, Bonnie Powers (and husband, Don), Debra Wilson (and husband, Emil), and Brenda Shinn (and husband, Dan); a brother Gary Morris (and wife, Mary); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the Celebration. Betty will be laid to rest in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Samuel’s House. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
