Betty Sue Stainbrook, age 80, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021. She was born on May 2, 1941, in Kansas City, Kan., to Paul and Mildred Stainbrook. Betty was raised in Overland Park, Kan., and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1959. After high school, Betty continued her education in Emporia, Kan., at the Kansas State Teachers College where she was also a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority.
Although Betty began her employment in Wichita and Shawnee Mission, she spent most of her career working as a physical education teacher in the Linbergh School District in St. Louis, Mo. She shared many fun adventures antiquing, traveling and golfing with her lifelong friend and companion, Joy Aubuchon.
Betty is survived by her sister, Marilyn Triebel (Ralph); nephews, Mark Stainbrook, Scott Triebel and Ryan Triebel; and niece, Deanna Pittman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mildred Stainbrook; Bob Stainbrook (brother); Brian Stainbrook (nephew); and Joy Aubuchon (lifelong companion and friend).
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel, with burial in Prairie Home Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a meal following the burial. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time at the La Cygne Chapel.
