Beverly Lornell Armstrong, 64, of La Cygne, Kan., died at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2015, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Beverly was born Aug. 1, 1950, to William Paul and Rannie Rachel (Moore) Cummings.
She graduated from Camdenton (Mo.) High School and then attended Fort Scott Community College and received her Bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University.
In March of 2004 Beverly married Lee Armstrong in Mound City, Kan.
Beverly was employed by CH2MHill as a Hazardous Waste Management supervisor. Beverly was a member of the Drexel (Mo.) VFW Auxiliary.
Beverly was an avid reader and enjoyed working puzzle books and spending time in her flower garden. She also enjoyed cross-stitch and scratch-off tickets. But Beverly’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family at family gatherings.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Armstrong of the home; one son, John Sapp and his wife Michelle; and one daughter Katie Walsh all of Belton, Mo.; three brothers, William Paul Cummings II and wife Kay, Alan Ray Cummings and wife Marian, and Micheal Dean Cummings and wife Donna, all of Amsterdam, Mo.; three sisters, Evelyn Douglas and husband Paul of Richmond, Mo., Hazel Hall and husband Kent of Amsterdam, and Kathy Bowers and husband Virgil of Amoret, Mo.; six granddaughters, Allyssa, Arian, Madison, Josie, Christiann, and Ashley.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Amsterdam Baptist Church, Amsterdam, Mo. The family suggests memorial to Drexel VFW Auxiliary in memory of Beverly in care of Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, P.O. Box 304, La Cygne, KS 66040.
