Bobby “Bob” Dean Johnson Mound City, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023. He was born April 1, 1936, on the Johnson family farm. He was the son of Alva D and Mildred A. (Hinds) Johnson. He was the youngest of two sons. He attended Linnville Rural School, graduating at eighth grade. He later graduated from Mound City High School in 1954. In 1957 he married Laura Elaine Gross of rural La Cygne, Kan. From this union they had two sons. 

Over the course of his life Bob worked as farm/ranch hand and worked for KDOT. One of his greatest joys was helping to run the family farm where he enjoyed the cattle. He also was an avid reader and loved to travel. He had been an active church member.

He is survived by his brother David W. Johnson of Pleasanton, Kan.; two sons Brad A. Johnson of Arma, Kan., and Kendall W. Johnson and wife Doris Johnson of rural Mound City. He is also survived by four grandsons, Bobby H. Johnson and wife Jaime Johnson, Clinton W. Johnson and wife Emily Johnson, all of Mound City, Kan., Jakob A. Johnson of Platte City, Mo. and Kirk A. Johnson of Overland Park, Kan.; one granddaughter Kristina A. and husband Steven Pierce of Eudora, Kan. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews

Graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at the Richland Cemetery. Bob will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, 319 Chestnut, Mound City, Kansas 66056.
