Bonnie Lou (Wilson) Smith, age 96, Pleasanton, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. She was born on Oct. 16, 1928, in Rich Hill, Mo., the daughter of Alex and Teresa Vint Wilson. She graduated from Pleasanton High School.

Bonnie was united in marriage to Charles Smith on Oct. 24, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2015. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and playing the piano. She was a talented seamstress, making everything from her children’s clothes to custom-made drapes. She worked as a library aide at Ben Day Elementary School from 1977 until she retired.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill and Gene Wilson; and a half brother, Richard Wilson. Bonnie is survived by three sons, Dennis Smith (Rosella), Kevin Smith and Mark Smith (Teresa); two daughters, Beverly Miller, and Brenda Jacobs (Mike); eight grandchildren, Rob, Denise, Tiffany, Troy, Ashley, Amanda, Derek and Alexa; and six great-grandchildren, Braydon, Ryan, Zoe, Marisa, Maren, and Romy.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton, Kan. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Pleasanton Chapel.
