Brent Ross Wheeler, 68, of Fort Scott, Kan., passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on July 27, 1956 in Fort Scott in the back seat of his parent’s car to Ralph and Mary Elizabeth Simons Wheeler.

Brent and his loving wife, Polly Katrina Walrod, were married on March 21, 1981.  They were married for 44 years.  He was a proud father to Nick and Brooke and a cherished Papa to his five grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Brent spent his career in construction and was known as a skilled handyman, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  His love for the outdoors was undeniable---whether he was hunting, judging field trials, guiding hunts, fishing or cheering on his kids and grandkids in their favorite sports.  Brent was a passionate sports fan always cheering on his favorite KU Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs!

His most valuable title was that of Papa!  He adored his grandchildren:  Traxton, Louden, Rozlea, Bowan and Hoyt.  Brent was often found playing catch, sharing fun stories, but nothing brought more happiness than time spent with them.

Brent is survived by his wife Polly, his son Nick and wife Kari, his daughter Brooke & husband Josh, five grandchildren, siblings:  Donald, Dale, Delbert, Linda, Terry and Barry and many dear family and friends.  Brent was preceded in death by Wade, Greg, Sandra French Wheeler, Pat, Chuck, David and Ralph.

A celebration of Brent’s life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers and plants, donations may be made to a memorial at Landmark Bank in Fort Scott, Kan.
