Carol Deanette Durbin, 67, of Fort Scott, died Saturday morning, June 20, 2015, at the Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. She was born in La Cygne, Kan., Sept. 24, 1947, the daughter of Russell Stokes and Beatrice Imogene Willis Merriman.
She married Ronald R. Durbin Oct. 9, 1965, in Fort Scott; he preceded her in death April 15, 2010.
She worked as a CNA for Arkhaven Nursing Home, for Key Work Clothes, Ward-Kraft Forms and Labels, Dayco and retired from Ennis Business Forms about five years ago.
She is survived by a daughter, Annette Durbin-Bogan of Pleasanton, Kan.; a son, Ron Durbin Jr. and his wife Shannon, of Arcadia, Kan.; four sisters, Marsha Lafferty of Fort Scott, Nina Merriman of Rich Hill, Mo., Christy Rusk of Fort Scott, Liz Campbell of Parker, Kan.; two brothers, Kenneth Merriman of Fort Scott, Russell Merriman, Jr. also of Fort Scott; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald R. Durbin Sr.; three brothers, Everett, Keith and Steven Merriman; and one grandson.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Robert Wachter as Celebrant. The family received friends Tuesday evening, June 23, 2015 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with a Rosary service following. Burial was in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Fulton, Kan.
