Carol Jean Johnson, age 76, formerly of Olathe and Mound City, Kan., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018. She was born at Mound City on June 23, 1941, the daughter of Ross and Audrey Hixson Huckaby. She graduated from Mound City High School and Fort Scott Community College. She married Richard Johnson in 1959. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1965.

While living in Mound City, she operated the Village Inn Restaurant. She later worked in the Kansas City area in a variety of sales and accounting jobs, as an office manager for Environmental Systems, Inc., and as a home care provider for Lake Mary Center. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Paige Sayers and a brother, Harold Ray Huckaby. Carol Jean is survived by two grandchildren, Brandon and Bailee Sayers; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie; two sisters, Doris Lindell and Dorothy New; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Contributions are suggested to Rainbow or Mound City First Christian Church. On line condolences for the family can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
