Charles Elmer Beckman, age 88, Mound City, Kan., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at the Olathe Hospice House. He was born in Beagle, Kan., on March 16, 1930, the son of Elmer and Ella Masoner Beckman. He attended schools in La Cygne and Paola, graduating from Paola High School.
He was united in marriage to Sarah Widner on Jan. 31, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Nowata, Okla.
Charles worked for Conoco Phillips retiring as a plant superintendent after 35 years of service.
He was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church, and a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge. Charles enjoyed his horses, growing tomatoes and mowing. The most important part of his life was his family, and he loved them all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ila Elliott.
Charles is survived by his wife, Sarah; two sons, Charles Beckman and wife Laure, and Ronald Beckman and wife Debra; a daughter, Sandra Luther and husband Emmett; a nephew who was raised as a son, Neal Beckman; six grandchildren, Chelsea, Josh, Keith, Nathan, Jake and Zach; and three great grandchildren, Brandon, Oaklee and Chloe.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.
