Charles Oliver Haverfield, age 95, Parker, Kan., passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020. He was born on May 4, 1924, in Parker, the son of George and Violet Robinson Haverfield. He graduated from Parker High School in the class of 1942. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married Betty Clark on Dec. 9, 1951. To this union three sons were born. The marriage ended in divorce. He later married Helen McCarty Hampton on Jan. 16, 1970. She preceded him in death March 21, 2009.
He was a member of the Parker Historical Society and the Western Missouri Antique Tractor and Machinery Association. He and wife Helen traveled from spring through fall, attending shows with an antique tractor and stone burr mill.
He was also preceded in death by siblings Owen Haverfield and Wilma Coleman; stepchildren Phillip Hampton and Cheryl Erwin; and grandson P.J. Hampton. Charles is survived by three sons, Charles Haverfield (Linda), Robert Haverfield (Sheila), and Stephen Haverfield (Rose) and their son (Dustin); stepson Charles Hampton Sr. (Virginia); two stepdaughters, Marilyn Sheets Rhoades and Rolleen Stites (Alvin); a stepdaughter-in-law, Bertha Hampton; and many grandchildren and great and great-great grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family will be held 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at the Linn County 4-H Building, Mound City, Kan.
