Clayton L. Stoker, age 89, La Cygne, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020. He was born on April 20, 1931, in La Cygne the son of Lawton and Alice Terry Stoker. He graduated from La Cygne High School in the Class of 1949. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Clayton was united in marriage to Mair Richards on Sept. 11, 1954, in Loudwater, England. Together they raised the family with Clayton working as a carpenter and farmer. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the American Legion and a 60-plus-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mair; a brother, Gerald Stoker; and a sister, Margaret Wier. Clayton is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Richard) Speck and Bronwen (Tom) Sharp; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at the Star Valley Cemetery, La Cygne. Mask wearing and social distancing will be in place. Contributions are suggested to Azria Health Olathe, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box 304, La Cygne, Kan. 66040. Funds will be used to expand the Azria Library. Clayton will lie in state for individual respects and guest registry at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25.
