Daniel Ray “Dan” Atkinson, 55, Mound City, Kan., passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at Providence Medical Center. He was born Jan. 20, 1961, at Lawrence, Kan., the son of Ray and Margaret Malone Atkinson.
Dan proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a construction superintendent for Grand Construction.
He married Corinna Henderson May 5, 2011.
He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union and a minister in the United Christian Faith Ministries. Dan was a hard worker who always put his family first.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Corinna; father, Ray; four sons, Zachary Pederson, Clayton and Levi Atkinson and Henry Jones; a daughter, Millie Jones; brother, Timothy Atkinson; and a granddaughter, Rylee Atkinson.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan., at a later date. The family suggests contributions to Concern Inc.
