David Lawrence Cameron, 88, of Amoret, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, in Amoret. He was born Oct. 8, 1926, to Lily Boyd and Nina Opal Lawrence Cameron in La Cygne, Kan.
David grew up in Amsterdam, Mo., and graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1943. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.
On Aug. 17, 1952, he was united in marriage to Flossie Williams and to this union three children were born.
David worked as a bank teller for Citizens Bank in Amsterdam for 29 years. He also worked for Larry West in La Cygne and as a bookkeeper for Bass Buster Lure Company. David retired in 1996.
David enjoyed gardening, pecan picking and fishing – especially trout fishing at Bennett Springs, Mo. He was quiet, serious, told it the way it was and was a wonderful father.
David is survived by one son, Terry Cameron and wife Tammy of Amsterdam, Mo.; two daughters, Christine Leiker of Kansas City, Mo., and Julia Chaffee and husband Greg of Belton, Mo.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David’s wishes were to be cremated. No public services are scheduled at this time.
