Delbert R. Cornett, age 94, Parker, Kan., passed away Monday, April 24, 2023. He was born in Linn County, Kan., the son of Delbert and Viola Rookstool Cornett. He graduated from Parker High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Delbert was united in marriage to Joan Mendel on April 24, 1951. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for a short time. He was a heavy equipment operator, as well. But, his true love was farming. He was a member of the Paola American Legion and a life member of the Garnett VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Earnest, and John; a sister, Evelyn Russell; two grandchildren, Julie and Michael Cornett; and a great-grandchild, Braxton Michelle.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Joan; four sons, Randy Cornett, Raymond Cornett, Glenn Cornett, and Perry Cornett; a daughter, Mary Michelle; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Richland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday at La Cygne Chapel. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Vitas Hospice, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O.
