Dixie Beatrice Collins, 58 years young, left this Earth on July 28, 2026, to go home to be with all who have left us too soon.
Dixie was born to Dick and Dorothy Newton on Oct. 16, 1967, in Kansas City, Mo., their third and youngest daughter.
Dixie met her soulmate, Kevin Collins, whom she would wed and have three beautiful daughters with, when she started attending kindergarten at Benjamin Harrison in Kansas City, Mo.
Dixie was a devoted wife to her husband and a loving mother to her three girls. She loved to cook, was always cleaning, and enjoyed so many concerts that she and Kevin attended. As Dixie grew older and life’s path changed, she left Kansas City and came to Pleasanton, Kan., where she joined her mother and sisters and raised the youngest of her children. Dixie’s door has always been open to everyone, all the kids from Kansas City to Pleasanton, and she left an impact with everyone who knew her.
Dixie loved to go mushroom hunting and loved the mountains, rivers and streams. She had recently gone on the trip of her dreams to the West Coast seeing all the beauty there was to see.
Dixie leaves behind her three daughters, Clowy Martin (Raymond) of Kansas City, Mo., Cassie Collins of Independence, Mo., and Heaven Collins (Kris Sears) of Hume, Mo. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; her oldest sister, Karla Cayton Watson of Pleasanton; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews from Kansas City to Pleasanton to Sturgis, S.D.; along with numerous cousins and aunt whom she cherished deeply.
Dixie is preceded in death by her husband, Kevin Collins; her parents; and one sister, Susan Newton.
Soar with the eagles, baby girl; fly to the tops of the mountains and dive into the valleys, rivers and streams as this is where we will find you. Peace, be silent and God speed. We love you and will miss you until we meet again.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. in Hume, Mo., at 9355 SW 1st St.
