Donald Lee “Don” McGinnis passed away Oct. 3, 2022, at Topeka Center in Topeka, Kan., at the age of 82 years old. Don was born Sept. 2, 1940, the son of Lee and Earline McGinnis of Pleasanton, Kan.

He attended Pleasanton High School graduating in the class of 1958. After graduation Don joined the local National Guard and went to basic training at Fort Leonard Wood. After returning from basic training he attended barber school and owned a barber shop in Garnett, Kan.

Don was self-employed and had many ventures. He owned and operated McGinnis Rodeo Company and McGinnis Enterprises Oil Operation at Rantoul, Kan. He also was a working forest fire fighter and crop duster.

Don had many talents, working on restoring classic and antique cars and woodworking projects. His health had kept him from doing a lot the last few years.

Don is survived by his son Rod McGinnis and wife, Evelyn, of Waverly, Kan.; daughter Tatum McGinnis and husband, Marvin Williams, of Arvada, Colo.; five grandchildren: Codi Carter (Seth), Colby, Kan,; Chance McGinnis (Cheyanne), Waverly, Kan.; Anthony McGinnis, Los Angeles, Calif.; Weston and Camden Williams, Arvada, Colo.; three great-grandchildren, Caysen, Colin and Chloe Carter; a sister, Sheri Baugh, Mound City; three nieces: Diana Hermon (Don), Gardner, Kan.; Lisa Huppe (Gary, Edgerton, Kan.; and Amy Jo Earl (Dan) Mound City.

A graveside service will be held Oct. 29, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Pleasanton Cemetery.
