Donald Lee Porter, age 89, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025. He was born on Oct. 31, 1936 in Kansas City, Kan., the son of R.A. and Roxie Smith Porter. He was employed as a maintenance engineer. His longtime companion and wife, Phyllis King Porter preceded him in death on Aug. 13, 2015.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. Don is survived by two sons, Ronald Porter and Richard Porter; four daughters, Donna Talley, Leora Porter, Crystal Cascanett, and Kelly Porter; a brother, Raymond Porter; three sisters, Carol Porter, Marilyn Birdsong, and Cathy Barnhill; and grandchildren, Abbigail, Christopher, Elizabeth, Goliath, Lily, Jayden, Catalyna, and Temperance.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at the Schneider Funeral Home, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time at the La Cygne Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to Grady's Kids. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
