Dorothy Marie Markley, 83, Mound City, Kan., passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the Olathe Hospice House. She was born Feb. 22, 1932, at Pleasanton, Kan., the daughter of Aaron R. and Hallie Bell Markley.
She graduated from Mound City High School in the Class of 1950. After graduation she worked part time at the Linn County Courthouse, Huff Abstract Co., Prescott State Bank and Hammond Seed Co. She was very active in the family farm and ranch.
She was a member of the Mound City Federated Church, FWS Ladies Group, Linn County Historical Society, Linn County Farm Bureau, Linnville Friendly Circle and the Oscar Dewey Chapter #77 Order of Eastern Star, receiving her 25-year pin in 2003.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leroy Markley; and a niece, Theresa Chard Markley.
She is survived by two brothers, John Markley and wife Lois, and Robert “Bob” Markley; nieces, Melinda Markley, Angela Ragland and husband J.D., and Sherri Hahn; nephew, Lance Markley and wife Christy; great-nieces, Jessica Rewerts and Sydney Markley; and great-nephew, Jordan Hahn.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Shiners Children’s Hospital. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
