Ed Pemberton, age 79, La Cygne, Kan., passed Saturday, March 12, 2016, at his home. He was born at Ash Flat, Ark., on Sept. 16, 1936, the son of Jasper and Bonnie Matney Pemberton.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and worked for several years at General Motors on the assembly line.
He married Mary Jane Pittsenbarger on Oct. 2, 1976.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Matthew Benjamin.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons Danny Pemberton and Richard and Robert Stitt; two daughters Wendy Stitt and Brenda Benjamin; five grandchildren: Eric Pemberton, Katie Pemberton, Sarah Banks, Rachel Benjamin and Emma Benjamin; and three great-grandchildren: Kaden Ohlert, and Brody and Everly Pemberton.
Memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until service time at the Chapel.
