Edna Grace Lanham, 92, of the Wall Street Community near Mound City, Kan., passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the Good Samaritan in Olathe, Kan. She was born near Mound City Dec. 27, 1922, the daughter of Thomas Walter and Edna Grace Shaw McGee.
Her mother died when she was young. Her father married Mary Elizabeth Green who helped raise her.
She attended Coffee Bean Grade School, Blue Mound High School and Fort Scott Community College. She taught school at Linn County #6 before marrying Charles Lanham Jan. 28, 1944. She later worked in the Linn County Motor Vehicle Department for 17 years.
Edna was a member of the Wall Street Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary Hewitt New Post #248, and Farm Bureau. She enjoyed needlework and working in the yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles on Sept. 21, 2013; two brothers, Warren and Glen McGee; two sisters, Florence Freeman and Marie Berry.
She is survived by four children, Eldon Lanham and Jeanine, Eugene Lanham and Nancy, Dale Lanham and Vickie, and Mary Greene and David; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Curry Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Residencies at Pleasanton.
