Everett Ray Redd, age 88, La Cygne, Kan., passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021. He was born on April 1, 1933, in Barton County, Mo., the son of Ray William and Ernestine Francis Blasier Redd. He lived in the Pittsburg, Kan., area most of his life until moving to La Cygne, Kan., ten years ago. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver beginning when he was fourteen years old. He drove his last truck at the age of eighty-seven. He was named Truck Driver of the Y ear in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Everett is survived by his special friend, Dona Lawrence; brother, Dean Redd (Norma); and two sisters, Lois Hendren (Vincent) and Linda Williamson (Wayne).
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, La Cygne, Kan. Burial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt Olive Cemetery, Pittsburg, Kan. Rosary will be prayed 5:30 p.m. Tuesday June 15 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the La Cygne Chapel.
