Georgia Lou Farris was born Feb. 14, 1955, and was named after her parents George and Lucy. She lived an exceptionally normal life for a baby born with Down Syndrome in the ‘50s. Georgia Lou accomplished a lot within the confines of her limitations and was always a source of joy and pride among her family and many friends. Georgia lived at home with her family until 2007, when declining health made it necessary for her to move into Prescott Country View Nursing Home, where she received excellent care until her death Feb. 24, 2015.
Georgia was preceded in death by her sister Janice; brother Ronald; niece Teresa Hays; nephew Ayden Bryson; and her parents George and Lucy Farris.
Georgia is survived by her sisters, Barbara Hays and family, sister Judy Medcalf, husband Bill and family; brother Robert Farris, wife Lee and family; as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her and innumerable friends.
Georgia will be remembered for many things but greatest of all, that she loved deeply and unconditionally, withholding nothing. She was loved by all who knew her and she touched many lives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church, La Cygne, Kan. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until service time at the Chapel. The extended obituary may be viewed at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
