Helen Lenora Cox, age 93, La Cygne, Kan., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020. She was born on Aug. 24, 1927, in Bates County, Mo., the daughter of Grover Albert and Olive Grace Elliott Abnot. She graduated from Merwin High School. She was united in marriage to Fred Lee Cox. He preceded her in death in 1986. 

Helen worked as a cook and a waitress in restaurants in the La Cygne area. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, La Cygne Senior Citizens and the La Cygne Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Kenneth Abnot, and three sisters, Anna Lee Cummins, Bertha Geneva Cook and Mabel Josephine Murray. Helen is survived by two sisters, Norma Jean Hoover and Jesse Roberta Steimel; nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Jingo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time at the Chapel. Friends my pay respects and condolences from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Schneider La Cygne Chapel. Contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation or the Calvary Baptist Church.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
