Hermena Mary Elizabeth Kelsey, 87, of La Cygne, Kan., passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at Life Care Center of Osawatomie. Hermena was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Greeley, Kan., to John and Catherine (Rockers) Mersman.
She married Ralph Kelsey Nov. 20, 1947.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society, Militia Immaculata, Friendly Circle Club, Tanglewood Recreation Committee, and enjoyed dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on Dec. 6, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Perkins; a granddaughter Kristina Noel Gray; and a brother Marvin Mersman.
Hermena is survived by six sons, Ralph Kelsey Jr., Leon Kelsey, Joseph Kelsey, Greg Kelsey, Jeff Kelsey, and John Kelsey; three daughters, Vona Marie Lathrum, Joan Gray and Kristine Bridgeman; one brother Raymond Mersman; two sisters, Theresa Kelsey, and Carmelita Coats; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at the Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City Chapel. Visitation will follow from 5 to 7 p.m. Arrangements: Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City, Kansas.
