Irene Virginia “Sally” Cox, age 96, formerly of Mound City, Kan., passed away Friday, Dec 27, 2024. She was born on Oct. 20, 1928, in Pleasanton, Kansas, the daughter of Cecil and Lela McCay Purviance. Sally was united in marriage to J.D. Cox on April 29, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1997.

She was employed at Sunflower 8, Braemoors and Linn County Nutrition. Sally was a very loving soul and a woman of great faith. She opened her home to anyone in need and loved them unconditionally. Sally was an avid card player who loved playing pitch and spades with her family and friends. Today the world lost a beautiful kind soul and heaven gained another angel to watch over us. She loved the lord and was a member of the Pleasanton First Baptist Church.

Sally was preceded in death by a son, Randy Cox; a daughter, Connie Perry; and two grandchildren, Bryan, and Jay. Sally is survived by a son, Gary Cox; and three grandchildren, Brandy, Jimmy and Joey, and several great-grandchildren. Poppy, great-grandma loves you!
