Jack Lee DeWaard, 79, Blue Mound, Kan., passed Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at his home. He was born at Grand Rapids, Mich., on Aug. 11, 1938, the son of John and Marjorie Cosgrove DeWaard.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marines, he trained as a Powerman. After being honorably discharged, he worked as a journeyman electrician until retirement.
He married Sharon Weaver on June 4, 1976.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jerry DeWaard; and a sister, Nancy Ailli.
Jack is survived by his wife Sharon; two sons, Gary DeWaard and Jack A. DeWaard; four daughters, Sabrina Moeller, Elaine Becker, Aengela McGinnis and Dawn Welch; two brothers, Larry and Kelly DeWaard; a sister, Bobbie Veneklase; 16 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 25, at the Blue Mound Federated Church. Burial will be at Fort Scott National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
