James Benjamin “Jim” Hargrove, age 69, formerly of Mound City, Kan., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. He was born on June 17, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo., to Robert and Doris Jacobs Hargrove. Jim worked as a meat cutter and was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. God was the foundation of Jim’s life, followed closely by his family. He was a hard worker, kind and in his younger adult years he served a mission for his church in England and then played semi-professional football. 

Jim was preceded in death by his son Samuel; his parents; and his brother Samuel. He is survived by his son, Luther Hargrove (Selena); his daughters Hannah Elliott (Josh), Samara Bruce (Patrick), and Emma Clarke (Austin); three sisters, Rebecca Hinds, Jeanne Moerer, and Deborah Monk; and sixteen beloved grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint, Mound City, Kan. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Heart Association. Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
