James E. “Jim” Stainbrook, 82, of La Cygne, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015. He was born Feb. 29, 1932 at La Cygne, Kan., the son of Charles F. and Ruth E. Stevens Stainbrook. He graduated from La Cygne High School in the Class of 1950.
He married Marjorie Royer Feb. 28, 1951, at the La Cygne United Methodist Church. Jim was a farmer and raised cattle and hogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Daniel and wife Audrey, Kenneth and wife Fontella, Donald and Charles; and one sister Mary Ellen Noel.
He served on the Peoples Telecommunications Board for 45 years currently as president. He was also on the board of Frontier Farm Credit, Linn County Co-Op, Rural Water District #3. He was a former member of Elks and had served as a 4-H adviser.
Jim is survived by his wife Marjorie; sons, Steve Stainbrook and wife Cathy, and Danny Stainbrook and wife Dianna; daughters, Sondra DelaCruz and husband Tom, LeighAn Cragwall and husband Carl; two brothers, Wilbur Stainbrook and wife Ruth Ellen, Robert Stainbrook and wife Wilma; sisters, Donna Good and husband William, Marilyn Masoner and husband Tom; sisters-in-law, Delores and Virginia Stainbrook; brother-in-law, Frankie Noel; grandchildren, Brad Stainbrook and Tammy, Jason Stainbrook and Chelsie, Dustin Brinkman and Emily, Jessica Boyd and Matt, Marci Stainbrook and Jason, Jenna Shields and Ryan, Brett Brinkman and Wesley and Kari Cragwall; and great-grandchildren, Chandler, Braxton, Rian, Nolan, Gage, Waylon, Abby, Colin and Harper.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at the La Cygne, Kan., United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Miami County Relay for Life, Stainbrook Cousins Team. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
