Jean Frances Patterson (nee Ward) 86, of St. Louis, Mo., passed away Monday Sept. 11, 2023 in Mercy Hospital. She was a resident of St. Louis for 60 years but remained loyal to her native Kansas where she was born in Mound City on June 27, 1937 to Charles “Bud” and Leona Ward.
She was a graduate of Pleasanton High School, held a B.A. from Kansas University, a Master’s degree from St. Louis University, a teaching certificate from Washington University, and spent the final ten years of her professional life teaching in the St. Louis City Public Schools. She was a member of the Alexander Chapter #242 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was the beloved wife of 62 years to Joe C. Patterson, the loving mother of her son, Greg Patterson, grandmother of Eva Patterson, beloved by her late brother and sister-in- law Donald and Janet Ward, two nieces Debbie and Denise Ward, and is survived by many friends.
A visitation will be held at the Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home in Creve Coeur, Mo., on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 1-3 p.m. Funeral service at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa, Mo., on Saturday, September 23 at 12 p.m. with burial at the family cemetery on the Finley River, south of Nixa.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to St. Louis Shriners Hospital.
