Jean W. Parker, age 88, of Pueblo, Colo., formerly Springfield, Colo., and Junction City, Kan., passed away on Aug. 6 of natural causes. Jean was born in Pleasanton, Kan., to Marion and Catherine (Klopfenstein) Wortman.
She attended Eureka elementary school and graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1947. She later graduated from Kansas State College. She taught school, Home Economics and later Business in various schools, including Pritchett, Colo., and Junction City. She taught quilting classes beginning in 1983 and attained her National Certification from the National Quilting Organization in 1998.
Jean is survived by daughters Thayla J. Wright (Parker) of Raton, N.M., and Margo A. Parker of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband Irl W. Parker Jr., daughter Nancy K. Parker and grandson Jeremiah W. Wright.
She will be missed by her many friends.
A graveside memorial service and interment will be held at Highland Cemetery, Junction City, at 11 a.m. Aug. 18, 2017.
