Jeannie C. Widner, age 58, of La Cygne, Kan., passed away Wednesday, April 17, at her home. Jeannie was born, Oct. 28, 1960, the daughter of LaMonte and Alice Stude Widner at Garden City, Kan.

She graduated from Prairie View High School in 1978 and went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in political science with a minor in history from Pittsburg State University. Jeannie was employed for many years with Tri-Ko and Parker City Library. She enjoyed going to garage sales, reading and writing. She had actually begun writing a book.

She married John Orth on May 9, 2002, in Eureka Springs, Ark. He preceded her in death Aug. 5, 2013. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and brother Daniel Widner.

She is survived by her mother; a brother, Jim Widner; a sister, Roselynn Armstrong; five nieces, Jodi Meek, Katie Knop, Krystal Davidson, Ali Bauer and Jennifer Armstrong; five nephews, Matthew, Dustin and Logan Widner, and Jeremy and Jared Armstrong; and several great nieces and nephews.

 Funeral service will be held at 1.p.m. Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.

 The family suggests contributions to Trading Post Museum, which may be sent in care of Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne, KS 66040. Online condolences may be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
