John Clarence Myers (J.C.) passed away early Sunday morning on Aug.10, 2014, in Hermitage, Mo. He was born on April 18, 1941, the second of 11 children to Blake and Nellie (Douthit) Myers near Mound City, Kan. He graduated from Mound City High School in 1959. 

He married his wife Carla on April 26, 1990. She survives at their home in Preston, Mo. 

He is survived by two sons, Bruce Myers and Brian Myers of Amoret, Mo.; a daughter, Brenda Hall (Tom) of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Teresa Ryan (Mike) of Grandview, Mo.; three stepsons, Don Mosley (Brenda) of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Jimmy Jacobs of Hermitage and Clint Jacobs of Belton, Mo., 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Darrell Myers (Joann) of Harrisonville, Mo., and Harold Myers (Carolin) of Visalia, Calif.; four sisters, Jennie McKay (Gable) of Plattsburg, Mo, Barbara Panas (Ted) of Fort Myers, Fla., Diane Freeman, Phoenix, Ariz., and Sue Stites (Owen) of Prescott, Kan.; and a brother-in-law, Richard Morton, North Tonawanda, N.Y. He also leaves behind many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and some great, great nieces and nephews, a very special uncle, Bill Douthit (Anne) from Lee’s Summit, and a host of special friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Keith Myers; and two sisters, Mary Morton and Kathryn Prock.

J.C. worked at many trades over the years but his passion was over-the-road truck driving. He loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed sharing that pastime with his sons as they were growing up. They and their sister spent many happy hours camping, hunting and fishing during their childhood years. He also loved playing golf, country music and corny jokes, but most of all his family. He will be greatly missed.
