John William “Bill” Jones, age 76, of Pleasanton, Kan., passed away at his home on June 10, 2023. Bill was born on Sept. 5, 1946, the son of Clara Harmon in Kansas City, Mo., and later adopted by Elvin Jones. He was an over-the-road truck driver over the years and married Terry Davis on July 2, 1983, in Carson City, Nev.
Bill enjoyed watching the History channel and fiddling with his guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donald Lee Jones. Bill is survived by his wife, Terry, of the home; a daughter, Theresa Knott of Minnesota; a step-son, Johnny Driver (Angela) of Florida; two sisters, Hazel Spano of Bordentown, N.J., and Barbara Ropey of Camdenton, Mo.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, June 17, at the Pleasanton Housing Authority. Memorials are suggested to Bill Jones Memorial (to defray funeral costs) and may be sent to Schneider Funeral Home P.O. Box 525 Pleasanton, Kansas 66075.
