With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John William Enright, age 69, who transitioned from this earthly plane to eternal peace after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends in his final moments, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.

John was born on April 20, 1955, to Jay and Deloris (Farris) Enright in Kansas City, Kan. After graduating from Turner High School, he began a lifelong career with the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department, retiring as captain on Sept. 13, 2007. John continued his dedication to service by joining the Linn Valley Volunteer Fire Department on March 11, 2019.

John will be remembered for his boundless compassion and his ability to connect with anyone. He never met a stranger, always had a story or joke to share, and made others feel like a priority. A true giver, he helped without expectation, offering calm, reassurance and wisdom to all who crossed his path. As a teacher, mentor and volunteer, his impact on others was immeasurable.

John is survived by his soulmate, Patty Knoche; father, Jay Enright of Kansas City Kan.; children, Sarah Enright of Overland Park, and Jeremy (Christie Smith) Yowell of Leavenworth; granddaughter, Coral; sister, Diane Enright of Kansas City, Kan.; cousin, Steve Enright of Gardner; and nephew, Randy Freeman of Bonner Springs; and his fire family in Linn Valley.

He was preceded in death by his loving ex-wife, Joyce Enright; his mother, Deloris Enright; and his grandparents, James and Helen Enright, and Harry and Viola Fredrick.

A celebration of life will be held at the Clubhouse in Linn Valley on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to: Linn Valley Volunteer Fire Department, 2412 E. 2400 Rd., Linn Valley, Kan. 66040.
