Joyce Eileen Cummings, age 71, Prescott, Kan., passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at her home. Joyce was born Jan. 24, 1949, in Farlinville, Kan., to Edwin T. and Mildred L. (Dean) Peery.
After graduating from Mound City High School with the class of 1967, she obtained her beautician's license from Iola Beauty School. She operated her own Klip & Kurl shop for many years.
On Sept. 3, 1970, she married Richard Cummings.
Joyce loved vibrant colors and took great pride in her garden, flower beds, yard ornaments and hummingbirds. She could tell you when the buzzards and martins would come and go and when the sign was right for whatever task you wanted to accomplish.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Cummings, on Sept. 3, 2012; her parents; brother Gerald (Gary) Peery; niece Tracy Rhynerson; and brother-in-law David Cummings.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Debbie (Donnie) Rhynerson, nephews Dusty (Kitty) Rhynerson, and Dan (Tonya) Cummings, their families Samantha, Abigail, Dawson and Ryker Rhynerson, Kade and Koye Cummings. Also surviving are a stepson; sisters Carolyn McGown and Judy DeMott; brothers Tom, Ed and Robert Peery; sisters-in-law Judy (Mike) Wilson and Janet (Darrell) White; and countless nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation and funeral service are postponed until a later date.
