Karen Joyce Hughes Kidwell, 73, of Linn Valley, Kan. passed away September 10th at her home. She was born Sept. 9, 1948 in Kansas City, Kan. She was a graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School, Bethany Hospital School of Nursing, and Park University. She worked as a registered nurse for 33 years while raising two sons. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 40 years, where she served as vice regent of the Shawnee Mission chapter and then as chaplain, and also as constitution week committee member of the Marais des Cygnes chapter. She was a devoted member of Linn Valley Community Church.

She was preceded in death by Gerald and Rosalie Hughes of Merriam, KS. She is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, Roger Dennis Kidwell, her sons Russell of Rogers, Ark. and Andrew of Pleasanton, Kan. She is also survived by her sister Laurie D. Hughes of Las Vegas, Nev. and brother Gary M. Hughes of Mission, Kan.

Funeral service 11 am Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 at the Linn Valley Community Church.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept.  16 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.  At Karen's request, a private family interment will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.  Online condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
