Larry Ray Thompson, born March 30, 1949, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on Feb. 28, 2023.

Larry was born in Kansas City, Mo., to Wilbur Ray and Laura Ann Thompson. His parents preceded Larry in death. He leaves behind his wife, Irma Robbins Thompson and son, David Thompson.

Larry was the oldest sibling to Kathy Reed and Susan Thompson, both of Topeka. Larry grew up in rural Lenexa graduating from Shawnee Mission West in 1967.

Larry graduated from Kansas State University in 1971 with a degree in chemistry. Larry worked for Bayer Corp as a Lead Industrial Hygienist until he retired in 2004 after almost 35 years of service; he was one of the first to receive his Certified Industrial Hygienist {CIH}. Larry also served as head of the Emergency Response Team at Bayer. He was volunteer sheriff under Marvin Stites. He volunteered as a fire fighter in Linn County, KS. Larry and Irma moved to rural Linn County in 1985, living there over 30 years. They had recently moved to Paola, Kan.

Larry’s joy was being with his family. He had many nieces and nephews that he loved having fun with. Larry also loved being outdoors, hunting, and riding his horse, Rascal.

There will be no visitation or funeral. Please give donations to Ducks Unlimited in lieu of flowers.
