Lena L. Dick, age 89, Olathe, Kansas passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2024. She was born on

Dec. 23, 1934, in Buffalo, Mo., the daughter of Elza and Marjorie George Jackson.

During her working days, she was employed at Southwestern Bell, State Farm Insurance, Mound City First Baptist Church and the Mound City Library. Lena was united in marriage to Bill Dick

on May 13, 1975. 

She was a member of the Mound City First Baptist Church. Lena was a staunch Democrat and very involved with the Democratic Party. In earlier years she enjoyed spending summers and holidays at the Lake of the Ozarks. She loved to cook, entertain and make everyone feel special. She played guitar and was in a dulcimer band. She enjoyed growing flowers and playing bunco. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers,

William and Joseph Jackson; a sister, Pauline Schlosser; and a stepson, David Dick. Lena is

survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Terri Kurtz, and Janet Wisecarver; two

stepdaughters, Marti McMillen, and Melinda Ulses; a brother, James Jackson; and two sisters, Ann Motley, and Jean Anstaett; numerous grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at the Mound City First Baptist Church. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Memorial  contributions are suggested to First Baptist Kitchen Fund, or since Lena was a staunch Democrat, your favorite Democratic candidate.
