LeRoy Turpen, Sr., age 75, La Cygne, Kan., passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020. He was born on Jan. 17, 1945, the son of Joe Henry and Dorothy Mae Funk Turpen. He graduated from La Cygne Rural High School in the Class of 1963. LeRoy was united in marriage to Rose Bland on Feb. 2, 1973, in La Cygne, Kan. He was a member of the Happy Hill Church of God. LeRoy knew and loved the Lord. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and listening to his granddaughter, Emily, sing. He was preceded in death by his parents. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Rose; a son, Robert Turpen, Jr.; a daughter Christy Black and husband Charles; a brother, Joe Junior Turpen and wife Phyllis; three sisters, Kay DeMott and husband Roger; Linda Brumback and husband Dennis; and Diane VanWinkle and husband Bob; and a granddaughter, Emily Black.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 26 at the La Cygne Chapel.
