Lillian Lorraine Vanderford, 50, resident of Prescott, Kan., died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at her home. She was born Dec. 26, 1964, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of John M. and Elsie Louise Schaffer Spears. She married Willis Vanderford on Oct. 3, 1981, in LaHarpe, Kan. She enjoyed gardening and canning, fishing, and her dogs. Lillian loved spending time with her family and was the self-proclaimed family photographer. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Osawatomie, Kan.
Survivors include her husband Willis of the home; three sons, William L. Vanderford, Hutchison, Kan., Jessee Levi Vanderford and wife Amanda, Pittsburg, Kan., and Benjamin James Vanderford, Prescott, Kan.; five brothers, Johnny Lee Spears and wife Kathy, Fort Scott, Kan., Danny L. Spears, Warsaw, Mo., Kenny L. Spears and wife Stacey, Fulton, Kan., Jessee L. Spears and wife Debbie, Pleasanton, Kan., and John L. Jenkins, Nevada, Mo.; three granddaughters, Shaylee, Saydee, and Shyann; three sisters-in-law, Tammy Chapman, Benita Moore, and Penny Cooper; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 6, at the Cheney Witt Chapel, Fort Scott. Burial followed in Woods Cemetery, Redfield, Kan. Memorials are suggested to the Lillian Vanderford Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
