Linda Lee Ross, age 78, La Cygne, Kan., passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020. She was born on Aug. 30, 1941, in La Cygne, Kan., the daughter of Cliff Jasper and Opal Fern Lee Filtingberger. She graduated from La Cygne Rural High School in the Class of 1959. She married William "Bill" Ross on Oct. 17, 1959. 

Linda attended Fort Scott Community College and then Ottawa University to obtain a bachelor's degree in elementary education, becoming a fourth grade teacher in the Prairie View School District for many years.  She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter CV, La Cygne, and enjoyed reading mystery novels. She was baptized in the Baptist and attended the Christian Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Aletha Stoker and Betty Jo Filtingberger. Linda is survived by her husband, Bill; a son, William Kent "Bill" Ross; a daughter, Rhonda Lee Ross; three sisters, Mary Lou Hoyt, Myrna Weitman and Sharon McCarty; and four grandchildren, William and Heather Ross, and Greg and LeAnna Campbell.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, La Cygne. Linda was to lie in state from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory La Cygne Chapel. Contributions are suggested to the La Cygne Library, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box 304, La Cygne, KS 66040.
