Lucile Edna Snyder, age 90, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at her home. She was born June 25, 1925, in Mound City, Kan., the daughter of Clarence Edward and Wilhelmina Herman Augur. She married Howard Lee Snyder on June 23, 1943, in Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2012.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and playing cards. She cooked out of necessity and was known for her chicken and noodles.

Lucile retired after many years of service as a clerk for the Water Department in Kansas City, Mo. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a lifetime member of FCRV. She was a member of the Community Christian Church. She loved life, always staying active.

Survivors include a daughter Delphine Parks, Fort Scott; two sons Floyd Snyder and wife, Jeanette, West Richland, Wash., and Eldred Snyder, Nevada, Mo.; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

Besides her husband, Howard, she was preceded in death by two sisters, infant Hazel Marie Augur and Gladys Leona Rowley; and three brothers, Charles Thomas Augur, Harold Reo Augur and Ralph Edward Augur.

 

Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mapleton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday evening at the Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.
