Marcia D. (Adamson) Mathes passed peacefully Nov. 9, 2023, at home surrounded by family. She was born to Earnest and Lavon Adamson March 31, 1947, in Columbus, Kan. 

Marcia grew up in Columbus and attended Cherokee County High School. She married the love of her life and best friend, Bill Mathes, on Feb. 27, 1966. He survives of the home.

Marcia had an in-home daycare for 26 years caring for many children in the Columbus area. She enjoyed attending grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling with friends, scrapbooking and fishing with Bill. They spent several of their last years together at Grand Lake.

Additional survivors include her children Mike (Susan) Mathes of Columbus, Kan., and Meredith (Kenny) Johnson of Pleasanton, Kan; grandchildren: Lauren (Andrew) Williams-Finley, Addison Williams, Ryder Mathes, Bryce Johnson and Neyla Johnson; great-grandchildren Gracie and Waylon; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings and their spouses: Alieen (Johnny) Mack, Ray (Janelle) Adamson, Margie (Hal) Higginbotham, Norman (Bruna) Adamson, and infant sisters: Peggy and  Wilma Adamson.

Cremation is under the direction of Schneider Funeral Home; no services are planned.
