Mary Ann Young, age 76, passed away at her home on Nov. 12, 2020. Mary Ann was born the daughter of Earl and Jessie Stiver Britt in Clay Center, Kan., on June 11, 1944. She married Bobbie Joe Young on Oct. 27, 1962, at Clay Center, Kan.; he preceded her in death on June 9, 2013. 

Over the years, Mary Ann taught shorthand and keypunching, and she was a dance instructor. She played volleyball and softball in her younger years. Mary Ann also enjoyed crocheting, sewing and playing cards, and she liked to “experimental” cook, shoot pool, bowl and golf. Mary Ann was very quick witted and very firm in her beliefs. 

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bobbie; a daughter, Jessie Dee Young; a brother, Earl Britt Jr.; and a sister, Betty Maas. She is survived by a son, Bobbie Joe Young Jr. and wife Donna; a daughter, Julie Hutchinson and husband Tommy; a sister, Alice Rittenhouse; 13 grandchildren, Tommy Joe Hutchinson, Bobbie Joe Young III, Kaitlin Viscosky, Dee Dee Hutchinson, Jaime Remirez, Taylore Schuetz, David Ross, Jallisa Young, Harley Young, Brooklyn Grippin, Kallie Young, Rachel Jones and Joshua Bunch; and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2020, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Mask wearing and maintaining social distancing is requested. Burial will be at the Pleasanton Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, which may be sent in care of the funeral home to P.O. Box 525, Pleasanton, Kan. 66075.
